Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Each Tuesday, I set aside time to tackle some task, usually mundane, and revel in the accomplishment of completing said task.  However, I am sad to report that this week Tuesday has tackled me.

                       and After
I know it may seem odd that the largest box is on top but it just so happens to be the lightest one.  I would put them in the attic but these are goodies I’ve won over the course of the last couple of months, stuff for the baby and Christmas gifts for Los Tres Amigos.
I may have failed at this week’s Tackle It Tuesday, but there’s ALWAYS next Tuesday.  I cannot wait till next week’s Tackle It Tuesday!  Next Tuesday I will have met this challenge and found a new home for all of these items. *fingers crossed*

I hate this time of year.  No, the backyard barbecues and patriotism I love, but it’s the firecrackers.  It’s the bang, crackle, pop of the fireworks welcoming the 4th of July holiday that I hate.  The bang, crackle, pop that seems to become more and more frequent the closer the 4th approaches until it cascades with rapid firing of M-80s and Black cats and that occasional weird, screaming cat firework.  *Sigh*

For all the mommies like me who cringe at the sound of firecrackers blasting ALL night long…

With hubby attending an out-of-state conference and Los Tres Amigos away at camp, I miss having to use my “teacher voice”.  I miss having someone stare at me while I sleep and jolting me out of my sleep once I realize they’re there.  I miss hearing my name.  No, not the one my mother gave me, but the one God gave me when he made me a Mommy.  I know it’s only a week and my children will have the experience of a lifetime, but I miss them…and my hubby too.

In honor of my absent household the following Mommy Mantra was born…

Today is the last day of school and even though hubby and I have to get up early tomorrow to go to work, today is a special day for Los Tres Amigos.  This morning the youngest of Los Tres Amigos got out the car, looked back at me and asked “Mommy, can we stay up tonight?”
Without hesitation I said “No”, my mind was thinking ‘it’s a school night’.  He looked at me with sad, puppy dawg eyes and said “Mommy, today is the last day of school.”  He was right.
Immediately I thought back to when I was younger and how much I looked forward to the last day of school because it meant it was the first night we got to stay up as late as we wanted…which often meant 10 o’clock or so [smile].  I gently grabbed my son by his wrist and said “Mommy forgot.  You can stay up as long as you want.”  I kissed his forehead.  He smiled and thus today’s Mommy Mantra was born.

Hubby thought it’d be a good idea to teach Los Tres Amigos how to wash dishes.  Me, ummm…not so much.  Seriously, los tres amigos are the same people I have to remind to wash their face and hands, put on deodorant and brush their teeth.  I thought it’d be a better idea to teach them how to load the dishwasher.  In theory, great idea.  However, after a week or two of Los Tres Amigos’ constant opening and closing of the dishwasher,  we realized Los Tres Amigos dish washing services are no longer needed.

I didn’t want to wait until next Post-it Note Tuesday to wish each of YOU and your moms a
Happy Mother’s Day!
